Toilet Paper – over or under

by Raylene on June 12, 2011 · 9 comments

I never knew that how you put a roll of toilet paper on the holder mattered.  We’ve never had issues or even conversations about it in our marriage – neither one of us care too much to make it an issue.  But when we were in BC we found out that some people will die for having the roll on the “RIGHT” way.

It seems a weird thing to make an issue over… but people do.  It’s weird to even talk about… so that’s why I’m talking about it!  LOL!

When I put the roll on, I usually load it so that it will unroll off the top.  My reasoning is that when it’s 1am, and I’m not quite awake, it’s just easier to find it (for me anyway) when the loose end hangs down from the front of the roll.  I never seem to be able to find it when it’s hanging down in the back.

But truth be told: in general, I’m just excited to have a roll with paper on it on the holder! (Can I get an Amen, moms?)

Nobody in my house gets flack for having the roll put on the ‘wrong’ way, only for not putting a new roll on when they empty the last one.
Wouldn’t you know it – I’m writing this post
and what does my friend post on FB?

Recently, though, with one particular brand of toilet paper (which shall remain unnamed), I am ALWAYS putting the roll on so that it hangs down in back.  The quilting of the tissue is actually kind of rough, so rolling it a certain way keeps that rough on the inside.  These things are IMPORTANT, you know! Can’t have any ‘rough stuff’ down there, folks!
I know this isn’t the reason why people usually have heart attacks over the way a roll of toilet paper is installed, because it’s ALWAYS about the way it rolls regardless of the brand of paper.  This cracks me up, only because it’s not my issue.  I know for some people it is a big issue… I respect that… and snicker to myself in the corner.
So, are you OVER or and UNDER when it comes to your toilet paper rolls? Is it a life and death issue for you, or could you care less, as long as there’s paper nearby your toilet? This is weirdness I must know more about!

Definitely over. But just getting someone to change the roll is a win!

I totally prefer over. But i have heard that under saves paper, people use less for some reason? Not sure how that is true. However, I care more about changing the roll. At one point we lost the roller so we had the roll on the toilet tank for a LONG LONG time, and that solved all the problems, lol.

I am completely NUTS about this issue… maybe it's the BC in me! I'm a over the top girl and have been known to change friend's rolls at their houses because it drives me that crazy. 🙂

p.s. Cheryl & Ruth… next to you find such a deal CALL ME! lol

I am and always have been an under roller:-) I have wanted to, but have never followed through, change rolls at peoples houses, cause it bothers me that much. I don't complain though if someone puts in on over, cause it means they actually DID it!! I just switch it is all;-)

P.S. Shash…we did!!
P.P.S. I think it is a little sad that this is what we did on our girls night out…haha!!

Over, over, over! It irks me to see it under. Is that wrong?
