Horseshoe Canyon (Cypress Hills) Panorama – WW {w/linky}

Horseshoe Canyon Panorama
The 180 degree panorama I mentioned in my last Wordless Wednesday post! Actually, on this tiny post, the photo really isn’t given justice, and the photo doesn’t show how truly gorgeous this view was… (click on the pic for a larger one)

This place is called Horseshoe Canyon, a huge part of the mountain that slid out from the top after the last ice age. This is one of the only places in Western Canada that escaped glaciation (this the forest on top of the rolling prairie hills), and it was really a very pretty place. From this point we looked out over the top of old pine trees, across to bald prairies, with golden fields of canola, green waves of rolling grassland, and bright bright blue lakes dotting the countryside, all against the wide azure Alberta sky with wispy white clouds low on the horizon. There were hawks riding the updrafts, and deer on the lower slopes of these tall hills. None of that is seen very well in this pic, but it was REALLY nice in person. Thanks to my friend Dan for stitching these pics together, too! They are the only photographic evidence of our camping trip!

The full camping story is coming VERY soon! It’s too good a story to skimp on, in my opinion, so I’m taking some time on it! :) (UPDATE: Post Published – Camping: How NOT to do it!)

That needs a frame – so you can get lost in it on the daily!
