Creatively Getting Around the “No Pets Allowed” Rule

by Raylene on September 22, 2013 · 5 comments

The rule in our house regarding pets is this:

It can be a pet at our house if it can hold its breath underwater for 2 weeks.

This is because of the various allergies and other ‘issues’ we have in the house. (Namely, that I have enough to do keeping up with a family of 5, without adding in the care of any extra critters…)

That leaves no room for fluffy, furry friends of any kind, much to the chagrin of my fluffy, furry pet-loving daughter.

But, she is constantly finding creative ways of getting around the rule.

Most recently, she found a defunct computer mouse, the wired kind, and claimed it as her pet. “Petting” the roller dial makes it ‘purrrr’ (or click), and she keeps it on a leash so it can’t get away, while dragging it all around the house, up stairs and down stairs, onto the couch and everywhere she goes.

Did I mention that my daughter is 14?

She just calls it “Mouse”.

Creative and weird. That’s my kiddo!!! I love her and her pet mouse. 🙂
