I recently finished reading a book written by a friend of mine. I’ve been hesitant to read it, actually, because I was afraid the subject matter would be too close to home, making the story difficult to finish. “Frock Off: Living Undisguised“, by Jo Dibblee, is excellent, as I knew it would be (knowing Jo). It is real and raw and good – oh so good – even if it was sometimes a little too familiar! 🙂 Summary The summary of “Frock Off”, From Amazon: With parents tormented by secrets, guilt, and shame, Jo Dibblee quickly […]

Review of Pentatonix – The Album

Pentatonix The Album

Song writing, musical arrangement, vocal abilities… Pentatonix shows it all off in this new album. I’ve always raved about their covers of popular hit songs. This self-titled album (Pentatonix)is mostly their own original music, and it is equally noteworthy! The variety of styles on the album is impressive. PTX covers a whole bunch of bases, showcasing their amazing talent and versatility! Some of the songs feel like old favourites already – “Na Na Na”, “Sing!”, “Water”, and “Take Me Home” are lovely and comfortably excellent! “Light in the Hallway” is a dream come true for me […]

Run to You: Pentatonix {review}

I was going to tackle all of Pentatonix’s new album all at once, but I just can’t do it. SO much can be said about a few individual songs in particular. I think I’ll need to take my time! SO, where do I begin, then??? The very first thing to note, when listening to ANY Pentatonix music: a good sound system is necessary to get the full effect of their awesomeness. To listen to them without good headphones, at the very least, is pure sacrilege. Pentatonix will sound great even on your computer speakers, but […]

Finding God in the Dark

If you know me in real life, you may or may not know that the last 2 years have not been the easiest for me. There has been a lot of uncertainty and lots of change. I’ve not felt far away from God through it all, but I’ve struggled with faith and hope in general. When I saw the title of a new book (or maybe it was the subtitle), I knew this would be an important book for me to read at this time in my life.  Baker Publishing sent along this new book […]

Our family really likes to watch documentaries, and real life stories – not “based on a true story” kinds of movies, but REAL stories of real people as they are going along, or being interviewed after the fact. A movie called “Father of Lights” came into our lives, and it’s just that kind of movie – and it’s pretty amazing! About Father of Lights If God could be filmed, what would He look like? In this explosive documentary, filmmaker Darren Wilson attempts to do the impossible: film God and understand His character. Along the way, […]

Christmas was a bit tricky this year for one of my kiddos.  MrCutie is almost 11 years old, going on 30, with swings often as low as about 2. He’s really smart, really fun, with an amazing imagination, but tends to be a little immature on the emotional side of things sometimes.  I was looking for a gift for him that would be different and interesting. And I found the Trash Pack Garbage Truck. About the Trash Pack and the Trash Pack Garbage Truck The Trash Pack are squishy, collectable mini figures (Trashies) based on […]

I never seem to have enough hooks for things, especially around back to school time.  Somethings just need to get hung up, like bags, backpacks, scarves, certain kinds of art projects, etc. So shelves don’t really work – hooks are a great alternative.  EXCEPT, hooks leave holes in your walls, and I really dislike that.  I was excited to find a kind of hook that doesn’t damage your wall, and can be removed later, too!  Command™ Faux Metal Hooks from 3M Canada. About Command™ Hooks Command™ Brand offers an easy and stylish solution for Back […]
