Today is #BellLet’sTalk Day – a day devoted to raising awareness and funds for mental health initiatives in Canada. Watch this video to find out why Serena Ryder is speaking out about her mental health. And be sure to share our Facebook… Posted by Bell Let’s Talk on Wednesday, January 27, 2016   “…when something is wrong with your mental health it seems to be something that people get really really confused and scared about, and something they don’t want to share.”   Talking about mental illness (or not) If we’re afraid to share, we deny […]

Zentangle Mug – DIY Step by Step

A new craft project I picked up this winter: Zentangle mugs.   I did some research on Pinterest and around other places (including The Cozy Old Farmhouse) before starting my first zentangle mug project. Then I just dove right in, making myself a mug with my initial “R” on it, so that if it turned out really badly then it was just an experiment and I didn’t lose anything! It actually turned out really nicely, and I was very pleased. I have made about 12 of them now!   Several people have asked me about the process […]

As a Zentangle beginner, I have been learning so much about the art of Zentangle, but also about myself. I was introduced to Zentangle about a year and a half ago. ‘Tangling has been extremely good for my mental health and my soul, and it’s just FUN!   Here are some examples of the things I’ve ‘tangled from my Facebook Zentangle photo album (all on paper) – you can click on each image to see a full-size view:   I think I’ve progressed quickly from a Zentangle beginner to a few more advanced projects. I’ve […]

Frock-alicious – a review of “Frock Off: Living Undisguised”

I recently finished reading a book written by a friend of mine. I’ve been hesitant to read it, actually, because I was afraid the subject matter would be too close to home, making the story difficult to finish. “Frock Off: Living Undisguised“, by Jo Dibblee, is excellent, as I knew it would be (knowing Jo). It is real and raw and good – oh so good – even if it was sometimes a little too familiar! Summary The summary of “Frock Off”, From Amazon: With parents tormented by secrets, guilt, and shame, Jo Dibblee quickly learned […]

Review of Pentatonix – The Album

Pentatonix The Album

Song writing, musical arrangement, vocal abilities… Pentatonix shows it all off in this new album. I’ve always raved about their covers of popular hit songs. This self-titled album (Pentatonix)is mostly their own original music, and it is equally noteworthy! The variety of styles on the album is impressive. PTX covers a whole bunch of bases, showcasing their amazing talent and versatility! Some of the songs feel like old favourites already – “Na Na Na”, “Sing!”, “Water”, and “Take Me Home” are lovely and comfortably excellent! “Light in the Hallway” is a dream come true for me […]

Blog Rebranding Process

My blog rebranding took some time to process. I’ve actually been thinking about it for at least 9 months. Rebranding of any kind is not something that I would undertake without serious consideration. Any time you change something in your online presence, it shouldn’t be taken lightly.  So I had a lot to consider before doing anything publicly. Previously, It’s OK to be WEIRD  has undergone 2 design changes. It’s OK to be WEIRD! Design #1 My FIRST blog design looked like this: Flowers and Sunshine, with the crazy little stick figure girl. A good mix of […]
