Our company left this morning and now it’s back to business – the business of summer!
We’ve just had guests stay with us for about 10 days. It was a good visit, but it was right on the heels of getting out of school for the summer, and I think my family was pretty tired.
We’re all ready to not have to go anywhere or do anything in particular, for at least a few days.
I don’t feel like a completely laid back kind of mom until I have a couple of Type A guests to spur us on. WOW! I know I probably drove them as crazy (with my limited plans) as they drove me (with their need for detailed plans)! LOL!
Especially for summer, do we really need to know the whole schedule for tomorrow? I don’t, and my kiddos are used to not having everything all planned out all the time, so we all had to adjust a bit.
I planned a bit more (or actually verbalized the plans that were wondering around unformulated in my head), and our guests had to be ok with a few “I don’t know”s.
I’m not opposed to planning, and I’m not being negative. I think part of the frustration stems from the simple issue of timing – we were all ready to be DONE (with school, with running around, with having to stick to a schedule) when our guests arrived, guests who needed to run around and stick to a schedule. It is what it is, or should I say, it was what it was.
And it all worked out. But it’s one of the good reasons for a shorter visit… we can go back to our own regular ways of doing things, and they can go home and do things their way!
The “plan”, if you could call it that, for today was to clean out my gmail inbox, have a nap, and do a bunch of nothing. That’s what getting back to business looks like, at least for the moment.
ahhhhhhh – the sweet business of summer!
It is nice to kick back and take it easy once school is out. Thanks for joining us again for FMIC! Have fun!
We don't have a routine in the summer either. Glad you had a nice visit and now get to rest! 🙂 Have a great day!
