For several weeks now, seemingly off and on, I’ve been blocked from sharing content from this site on Facebook. Others have tried for me as well, attempting to post links for things directly from here to share on their Facebook walls, only to be told that the content has been marked as abusive.
Actually in the beginning, I kept getting this error:
![]() |
Oops. Something went wrong. We’re working on getting it fixed as soon as we can. |
It kept doing that for a while. Until once I finally got a message like this:
![]() |
Message Failed. This message contains blocked content that has previously been flagged as abusive or spammy. Let us know (link) if you think this is an error. |
YES, it’s an error! I am not spammy or abusive. I am usually posting my own content to my own fan page, less than 3 times a day (at most). So, I clicked the “Let us know” link to submit this form:
![]() |
I am blocked from adding content (fill out this form) |
I also hunted down every possible way to contact Facebook and did (it’s extremely hard to get in contact with them). I e-mailed all the e-mail addresses I could find and reported bugs and posted on forums and question pages. Still no response. No message saying why I was reported, who reported me, or what to do to get unblocked. NOTHING. I was able to post again for a day or two after a few other people also filled out the above form for me. So I thought that was the end of it, but then it was back to being blocked again, getting the same error as before.
To top it off, a friend of mine over at My 3 Little Kittens is also having the same issues (Facebook Blog Content Blocking – WHY???? – Am I Alone????). She is blocked as well, and not able to post her content to facebook. I can’t even post from her site it without it giving me the same error:
This morning, I couldn’t even post from my business account. My business site and facebook pages have only been up for about 2 months, and in that time I have only posted maybe a total of 10 links ANYWHERE on facebook – that can’t be abusive – and the links were in places where I belong, like a Social Media Manager promotions page and of course on my own Off the Wall page on Facebook. It looks like this too when I try to post links from my Off the Wall Social Media Management site to the facebook page:
There are only a few things we can even guess as to what’s going on.
One is possibly having to do with dynamic IP addresses that most wireless routers employ. Dynamic IP addresses are responsible for the vast majority of spam that gets posted. It is possible that certain IPs are being blocked, but we can’t find any confirmation on that, and we can’t confirm if our IPs are blocked.
It is also possible that it has something to do with ‘importers’ – that is, when we try to post a link to a Status Update, the update actually ‘imports’ part of the information from the link into the post, and that’s when we’re getting the error. f we only post the link in a comment, and no importing is going on, then the link will show as a hyperlink and we get no error. We can’t showcase our content very well this way, or by using the aggregators such as RSS Graffiti or Networked Blogs, which also may have had something to do with the problem to begin with (see Kristen’s post at My 3 Little Kittens linked above).
To stay we’re frustrated is an understatement. We’re flabbergasted. I’ve googled things and found a few others with this issue, but we want to throw it out there for conversation. Are we the only ones having this issue with Facebook? FB probably doesn’t care about a couple of bloggers and their pages, and so we may never hear from them or get the issue resolved. But if more are having the issue, maybe a sea of voices will get Facebook’s attention…. maybe…. Maybe we can get some response from them other than just the errors that say our content is blocked on FB.
Let us know – are you having issues?
And also, if you try to post content from either of our blogs and get the errors above, PLEASE take the time to fill out the form to let them know that we are NOT spam and we are NOT abusive! We would really appreciate it!!!!!
I had that same problem. No response ever came from FB. I resolved most of my issues by using NetworkedBlogs (because FB wasn't letting me link my own blogposts). Also I would post a link and then the comment would show without the link. A fellow Facebooker gave me the tip to hit control when you post a link and it usually works. Sorry you are having issues! 🙁
I just posted a link on your wall. Were you able to that in the past?
You're right – Using networked blog does work, but the reason we stopped using RSS Graffiti and Networked Blogs was because those applications lump all recent posts together in the FB News Feed (i.e., it shows the most popular in the feed and then says "See 56 other posts from Networked Blogs") so our posts were possibly not ever being seen. It is a fix, but it's not a good one. We'd like to get some real response from FB about how to do this well!
Hit Control, eh? I haven't tried that. I'll try anything! LOL!
Thanks!
Still Blonde – I've always been able to post to my wall, links from other pages, links to other sites, etc…. Just not usually from my own site. Off and on I can post my own blog content (i.e, a link from my blog) to somewhere on facebook. Usually I can NOT post any links from my blog anywhere on fb….. It's hit and miss, with no explanation. And right now Kristen is having the issue of NEVER being able to post her blog links anywhere on FB. It's frustrating!
Strange! I wonder why? Google Ad sense has blocked me and removed their ads from my blog saying I had strange clicks on my blog. I appealed and they still denied me. It is a real bummer when sites do this
Wow, that must be so frustrating! Sorry, I don't have any words of wisdom to help you…I don't really post blog stuff on FB, so I don't have this problem. Hope you're able to find a solution!
Wow Raylene, that just plain sucks. No, I have not run into this problem myself. Good luck with getting it cleared up. I'd be interested in hearing what response, if any, you get from Facebook.
I'm thinking maybe someone out there is doing it to just be mean. I know there can be some vindictive people out there. Hope it gets fixed soon.
Ginger – That's not cool that they totally blocked you and denied the appeal…. Strange clicks on your blog? What does that even mean? Well, there are other ad services maybe if you're looking for something like adsense.
It's kind of a weird situation, eh, Lynn? It's pretty frustrating, so we're just looking for answers. It only effects those who are posting to FB, but I know I'm not the only one. *sigh* We'll see how it fleshes out.
MLM – Yah, it pretty much just plain sucks….. I'm glad you haven't had this issue, and I hope nobody else does, but like I said, I googled it and heard of a few others, and then of course Kristen… I'll keep things updated with what, if anything, I hear from FB, but don't hold your breath – I'm not counting on hearing anything, and that is maybe as frustrating as anything.
I've wondered this a bit, Miranda. It's not cool whatever it is! I hope it gets figured out soon too!
I woke up to my account disabled. I am grumpy now. Not sure if I will register again
I am having the same problem when I try to post links to my blog. It is absolutely NOT abusive or spammy, to use Facebook's words, and I have only ever shared it with friends, so I know it was not "flagged" by a real person (as Facebook claims it was).
If you'd like to help me out by filling out the "Let us know if this is an error" form, the address of my blog is http://halfbakedbeans.blogspot.com
Thanks, and good luck to you!
(PS: I just tried posting a link to your blog on my own FB wall, and it worked just fine after entering the CAPTCHA code I was prompted with.)
Please let me know if you have any luck with mine :\
I am having ALL the same issues you are, and am enclosing the link to your blog in the ONLY response I've received from facebook, after filling out probably a dozen forms. I'm also enclosing a screen shot that has the same message as yours. I don't like that networked blogs requires you to use a non-secure connection to view content. I researched, and contacted Blogger, and they said it's a facebook issue. According to all the other complaints, it is! Hope facebook figures it out soon. Thanks for the great documentation!

Sarah and Jamie,
Thanks for also posting your feedback here. If we can get a string showing that there is a big issue here, and somehow get Facebook's attention that sure would be nice. I don't like that Networked Blogs lumps everything together on top of requiring a non-secure connection….It's definitely not ideal. Kristen is still having issues with hers too… 3 weeks later! We can't figure it out. Mine still works sometimes and then sometimes doesn't, which is even more bothersome.
Take screenshots, keep records… they may be helpful at some point! And send anyone you know who is having issues here to post their comments too!
Sorry we're having the same issue, but glad to have a place to talk about it! 🙂
Try http://dazzlepod.com/redirect_anywhere/
Quoted from the site “Getting blocked from sharing flagged links on Facebook, e.g. ThePirateBay links? Use RedirectAnywhere to share such links on Facebook or on sites that are blocking them.”
I am not posting links or any thing I’m just doing status updates. I’ve even tried “A”,”…”,”C”, as posts and Facebook still gives me that freaking message!
Alex, that’s so frustrating! I haven’t seen it happen in a while. Somewhere along the way, someone has reported you for spam (accidentally, even, perhaps). I hope it gets figured out soon!!!
Just tried posting to FB and I got the message “Post Failed This post contains blocked content that has previously been flagged as abusive or spammy.” And as anyone on my fb page will tell you I never spam or do anything abusive. I even have protected people I thought were being cyber bullied! I am so infuriated right now. I really don’t think I’m going back to FB. This is just absolutely ridiculous. Ugh.
I think it must be a glitchy day. I’ve seen a few out-of-the-ordinary things going on today for sure. Even if you’ve never ever spammed, SOMETIMES people still mark you as spam. It sucks, and it’s not cool, but sometimes it does happen. I’d give it some time to flush out. And definitely click the “Let us know” link and reply to the warning.
Ok so i have also been blocked from posting articles from my blog onto facebook. I just realised this morning as all my posts had dissappeared 🙁 i have filled the form out but what else can i do? How long will it take for facebook to respond? Anyone know?
That’s incredible… I have the same issue. I’m blocked for 2 days from posting or sharing articles on Facebook. It’s absolutely ridiculous how is extremely hard to get in contact with Facebook Support. 8(
Same problem here… been trying for MONTHS to get our site unblocked. I’ve been searching for ways to contact fb, or looking for other people who were able to get their site unblocked, and I have yet to find a solution.
Also having problems with posting zinga game requests. I am wondering if anyone is posting anything that is politically conservative in nature and possibly this is what is getting the offensive reports. I do re-post those type of messages as well and at times liberals will get offended.
I sent a bug report to fb and got the following generic message:
Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to report this to us. We’re sorry to hear you’re experiencing an issue using Facebook. While we aren’t responding to every report, we may reach out to you for more information as we investigate this.
Thanks again for taking the time to help us improve Facebook.
Thanks,
The Facebook Team
So far my only problem is I cannot comment on other peoples Memes However I can share same Meme and comment with no problem. Thus I decided to log out and create a new account and become friends with myself. As a result I can go to my old wall and now comment on other peoples memes. The best part is I no longer have to watch my language since its not me making the comment but my alter ego. Facebook has not emailed me back to answer this in 4 days
It’s unfortunate that they (Facebook) haven’t responded, John, but it’s not unusual. 4 days may seem like a long time without a response, but most people I’ve spoken with have had this issue resolve on its own within a couple of weeks. Probably too long for many of us – we prefer instant (or relatively quick) response and action.
I think it’s important to point out here that officially, according to the terms and conditions we all agree to when we sign up for Facebook, you aren’t allowed to have multiple accounts for a single user. I know you’ve done this as a work-around, in part because of Facebook’s own silliness, but I did want to mention that this kind of activity has also been known to cause issues with both accounts (the ‘old’ account and the ‘newly created’ account). Both accounts can be completely shut down with NO access to the content on those accounts. Because it’s my business to keep my clients’ social media profiles safe and in compliance, I have to advise that you delete the 2nd account. At the very least, proceed with caution. (That’s my professional opinion.)
I hope they fix things quickly for you. I keep seeing this pop up from time to time, and I still have no real explanation for it! Very frustrating indeed.

Sir i can’t make any thing but I’m blocked from adding content on facebook. Can you please help me.
please let me know, if someone have any tips regarding this issue, or how to fix it.

I also got blocked, can’t post my sites link. Anyone worked out how to get it unblocked?
it also happens to me, is there a solution yet?
