Just call me “luney”, … er…. “lunary”, … er…, “looney”?
It’s 11:45 pm or so, and I was just about to head to bed when I heard about a total lunar eclipse happening tonight.
I ran outside (it’s only -16C, or about 3F) to see if I could see the lunar eclipse starting to take place. We had a bright gorgeous clear full moon when I was out earlier. It was like walking out in daylight with that full moon, cloudless sky, and the whole land here covered in relatively fresh snow. Just gorgeous!
Then looking up, tada, there is the beginning of the eclipse, happening RIGHT over the top of my house.
Ohmigosh, WOW!
(by the way – I normally REALLY dislike December 21st, because it’s the shortest day of the year, and the longest night of the year here in the northern hemisphere. But THIS is a totally cool thing to happen on this longest night! LOVE IT!)
Call me crazy, but I’m going to wait a while and then get my kiddos up to see it. No school tomorrow, so it will be OK to get them out of bed for something like this. After all, how often do these things happen? Not very often, I’m thinking, and not very often on a crystal clear night with a HUGE full moon in December in Alberta! Not a cloud in the sky! And no wind – yes, it’s cold, but we can bundle up!
I’ll never be able to get very good pictures of it. But I am going to get the family up to share the experience with them. My in-laws are going to love me in about an hour! LOL!
Hopefully they will just be calling me crazy, and not any other names!

LOL! I stayed up for it too. But then it's okay to be weird.
Good luck with the in-laws.
You're so lucky – we badly wanted to be able to see it but alas it was cloudy and snowing!
I added myself to follow your blog. You are more than welcome to visit mine and become a follower if you want to.
God Bless You 🙂
