Yesterday my ‘little’ girl turned 11. How is it possible that I have an 11-year-old? I’m only 34… That is just so weird!
11 years and 2 days ago I was a very unhappy camper…right before I was a space cadet, followed shortly thereafter by an exhausted surgery patient, & finishing 36 hours after starting as a blessed & very smitten new mum. My “sweetums” has grown into a beautiful “sweetheart”, the best daughter in the world!
Was it really 11 years ago? How did I get that old?
Among the parents of my children’s friends, I’m one of the youngest, having had my children earlier than most of them. Some of them are as much as 15 years my senior.
But in comparison to my family, I waited longer than most to have my children. For example, my sister is 3 years younger than me, and her oldest kiddos (twins) turned 13 in December.
My daughter is growing into a beautiful young lady. She’s funny and smart (and intense and can be moody) and I’m enjoying her more and more as I get to know her better.
So, I guess I’ll have to admit to having a tween now, eh? WEIRD!
*** Join me in the weirdness… I KNOW you’ve encountered SOMETHING weird somewhere this week!! Leave me a comment and tell me all about it! ***
Ah, Sweet Mummy,
This is a G-rated blog, so I shall not go into the details of how it's possible that you have an 11-year-old. *wink*
But I understand you angst. My 'baby' just turned 10, and had his last day of elementary school. And my oldest is going to be in high school next fall. Scary!
But there is One who will be with us through all these stages. And we're going to make it!
LOL – well…. if you're not going to be that specific I guess I'll just have to keep wondering! ha
And I think my feeling about it is less angst and more incredulity. It's just hard to believe!
But I do marvel at how well He orchestrates these things according to His time, and what a special gift each of my kiddos is!
Amazing, isn't it, how quickly kids grow!! I don't think tweens are as hard to handle as they're made out to be sometimes. You're in for a fun ride 😉
Yup, it's pretty amazing! I'm actually looking forward to it very much, Clarity. She's a sweet girl, and I'm having more fun with her now than ever before. I've never been worried about the tween years or even the teen years. We'll take it as it comes, and have no expectations for it to be AWFUL… it's just another stage, and we'll walk through it together! 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!
