It’s January – it’s the New Year!  Time to think about getting the year off to a good start.  Right about now, most of us reflect on what things we can do better at in the New Year.  One subject always seems to come up during this time – Organization!

I’m a work at home mom, a quilter and crafter, an engineer in my life B.C. (before children!), and a former home-business owner (among other things).  Man, do I ever have STUFF that needs organized!  I must admit that paper clutter is the hardest thing for me to keep up with.  Between the important papers and bills, kiddos work from school, newsletters, etc…. it’s enough to drive me batty sometimes!

My Sweetie and I are both, in general, “pilers”. We ‘organize’ by piling or stacking, and we can almost always find what we need in those piles.  I know it’s hard for those people who are natural-born organizers to believe that, but it’s true.  Our system of organization works for us.  And, of course, me being ME, I also have some WEIRD stuff collected in those stacks!

Once every 2-4 weeks or so, the piles have to be sorted and actually filed. With business papers that we still need to hold on to for a while, and personal papers, we have lots of stuff to file.  Getting it all sorted into file folders is enough work, and having labels, like the Home Office Labels from Loveable Labels, handy to quickly stick to the folders sure helps to cut down the time it takes to properly file.  Loveable Labels sent me some Home Office Labels to try out!

My Review

Well, as I said, not only do I have lots of stuff to organize, but I have WEIRD stuff to organize, things that don’t always fit into nice and neat categories.  So I was glad to see that the Home Office Labels pack includes LOTS of labels (72) and a wide range of categories.

The labels come on 6 sheets and are organized alphabetically.  They are just the right size for file folder tabs.  Printed on Scotchal 220 Film (formulated by 3M), the labels have the ‘stickability’ you have come to expect from every good Scotch tape product – easy to peel, easy to stick, and they stay stuck (no unsticking while in the file cabinet).  The labels are a bit shiny (not glossy, but not matte, either) and that is a nice change from the plain flat surface of many commercially available file labels.  They really do look very professional and tidy.  They also come in a handy labeled ziploc bag, so you won’t lose the labels, either!

I’m in the process of purging all the papers that I don’t need from the last few years, and organizing the ones that do need to be kept.  I have pulled out the Home Office Labels, to put them to work!  I was impressed to see such labels as: Children’s Report Cards, Citizenship, Funeral Documents, Immigration Papers, Pet Insurance, Resume, and Will & Power of Attorney.  I’ve never seen those kinds of things included in a list of file labels before. These Home Office Labels really are designed with home office things in mind!

I’m surprised at how many of these Home Office Labels I will actually use. Some labels you buy at the store and can’t use more than half of them – that’s a frustrating waste of time and money. So far, I will use all but 10 of the Home Office Labels (we don’t have an American Express card, cable, daycare, department store credit cards, gym membership, hospital bills, inheritance, pet insurance, private school, or veterinary bills…).  Every other label will be used in my files! They even accomodate some of the weird things I have in my collection, like Immigration and Citizenship papers, as well as Donations/Charities and Work Contracts.

I like the professional look and quality of the Home Office Labels, as well as the diverse and useful categories printed on the labels.  Between quality and usability, it seems like they are a very good value for the cost.
