First menu plan of the new year!
In our city, the first Tuesday of the month is Customer Appreciation Day, where many grocery stores offer 15% off your purchase over $35. SO, I get to do some discount grocery shopping tomorrow!
My posted menus are always pretty basic, on purpose. It means I have a plan, but can still add variations as the week goes on. If I was to include EVERYTHING on the list, and then not have it, for some reason, because life happens and isn’t perfect, my 2 kiddos who care about such things would very possibly go ballistic! This way, the outline suffices for them to know what’s coming, but not to limit the possibilities of what mom REALLY needs to pull off!

Sounds YUMMY! I haven't done a meal plan yet for this week though I've thought about it a bit. I cooked a ham yesterday, we had tacos today and there is split pea soup for the crockpot tomorrow. Probably leftovers on Thursday & pasta or pizza on Friday. Wow, I love short weeks!
YUM! I need to get with the menu planning. I tried once and it failed horridly. But I like your menu…any tips?!
Merry – it feels really simple this week, just pulling for old plans. I know it will work and get us off to a good start for the year! I LOVE LOVE LOVE crockpot cooking and need to find more recipes that do not include tomatoes or potatoes… NOT easy for the crockpot!
ker-AND-uh: HIYA! Thanks for stopping by!
I have maybe 4 menus that I rotate through and swap things around between most of the time. Sometimes I will throw in something that I get really adventurous about, and my family is pretty good about trying new things, but I usually just keep it simple. I try to include things that I know they like. For a while I did use an online menu subscription from More Food for Thought, Inc. (SavingDinner.com), and I think that got me in a good routine of grocery shopping once a week and stuff.
Mostly, just keep it simple! 🙂
Good luck with it, and I'd love to hear how it goes!
OH, one thing I tried for a while was to have an 'ethnic' or 'theme' focus for each night of the week – Monday: Mexican; Tuesday: Chinese; Wed: Italian; Thurs: Soup; Fri: Salad; Saturday: PIZZA (we still do Pizza on Saturday while we watch Hockey Night in Canada); Sunday: Leftovers…. that's another option to consider.
Had to google 'Turkey Tetrazzini" and it looks so yummy! I'm so gonna give it a try!! And…erm, moose stew?? I'd have never thought about eating moose…does it taste like chicken too? Hehehe
PIZZAAAAAAAAA!! Yumms….homemade or delivery?
xoxo
Sofia – I posted my recipe for Turkey Tetrazzini today:

It is yummy!
We ended up having venison stew instead of moose stew. But the moose is YUMMY! It is NOTHING like chicken. hahaha! The moose we have this year is very tame, with no wild game taste at all – it would be similar to beef, but I find it even more mild that store bought beef. When I do roasts with the moose, it is SO tender and juicy, and slices SUPER thin. It's just yummy! Venison is good too (that's deer) and we have 2 different kinds in the freezer – mule deer and whitetail. The whitetail is what we had in our stew on Wednesday and it was VERY tame as well…. nobody at the table would have known it was venison if it hadn't been written on the menu! 🙂
Pizza on Saturday is pretty much a ritual. I used to do homemade, but I found some cheap frozen pizza at Wal-Mart… it's good, it's fast, it's cheap… works for me!
