Medication – Tylenol, Benadryl, Motrin, Advil… and whatever else is necessary.
First, it was grape liquid. Then that cherry red ‘stain everything it touches’ syrup. Then clear bubblegum flavour.
Next stage was chewables – all in the same amazing flavours as liquid, but with a little less mess. (At least one of the kiddos will never eat grape-flavoured anything every again because the chewable grape Benadryl totally grosses her out and that taste will stay with her forever!)
Man, was I glad when the kiddos could finally take regular pills.
It’s been funny, even as they have gotten bigger, though.
BudBud has had to take more pain killers than any of the kiddos because he, like me, suffers from wind-induced headaches. One of the medications I take for my headaches is Advil – or Ibuprofen (the generic name). And from the beginning, when he was about 7, whenever BudBud’s gotten a headache, he’s said, “Mom, I need some Ibeprofen (i-be-profen).” It makes me laugh.
But most of the time, he actually takes Tylenol – and we buy the generic Acetaminophen in the large Costco-sized bottle. Even now, at age 12, BudBud still calls it “Iseedamedicine” (I-see-da-medicine) instead of Acetaminophen.
So, next time you’re at our house and find yourself suffering from a little ache or pain, you can request “Ibeprofen” or “Iseedamedicine”.
Otherwise, we might not be sure what you’re talking about! LOL!
