While on the seemingly never-ending hunt for a sugar-free gum I can actually chew, I discovered PÜR gum, and my hunt NOW seems to be at an end.

While I’m not sure I can say that I’m allergic to aspartame, every time I eat or drink something with aspartame in it, I get a terrible headache, verging on a migraine. So, I avoid aspartame at all costs.  However, most sugar-free chewing gum is sweetened with aspartame… *sigh*

I occasionally indulge in some bubble gum – the full-sugar, full-calorie, rot-your-teeth-off kind – just to have a piece of gum. I know I can’t do that on a regular basis – it’s just too much sugar! Thus, the hunt for a sugar-free, aspartame-free gum.

My Review

FINALLY, I have found some gum that I can chew! Not only that, but it’s GOOD gum! PÜR gum tastes better to me than any other sugar-free gum I’ve ever chewed. And of course, for me, there’s no awful headache after-effect. There’s no after-taste either. Just tasty gum!

I love that PÜR gum is made with good ingredients, more than just NOT having aspartame in it.

– diabetic friendly

NUT FREE is another big plus at our house. My daughter, with her nut allergy, can safely chew PÜR gum as well!

And I mentioned before, PÜR gum is GOOD! It tastes good, it has a good gum texture. There’s nothing worse than having gritty or dry gum, which I’ve known some natural gum alternatives to be. PÜR is very much like any other kind of chewing gum in this respect – it’s gum! The flavours are excellent as well. We’ve tried all 4, having now gone through MULTIPLE packs of each, and I can’t really pick a favorite. I was skeptical about Pomegranate Mint, thinking it might be a bit sour or tart, but it is actually VERY VERY good. The peppermint is a burst of fresh minty-ness, the spearmint is a smoother and longer lasting flavour, and the brand new eXcitemint is somehow different than both peppermint and spearmint, but still an eXcellent taste!

We all noticed when chewing PÜR gum that there’s a cooling sensation in our mouths – I expect this is a result of the mint, but also from the xylitol, which I’ve used in other ways as a sweetener, and feels cool in your mouth if you just take a taste of it in granulated form. This cool feeling is quite a nice side-effect of the gum, and leaves your mouth feeling quite fresh.

Even the kiddos love PÜR gum! I can hardly keep enough in the house. LOL!  They are always raiding my purse now that I have gum in there!!

PÜR gum is made in Switzerland, not China, which I also found to be quite interesting. I love Swiss chocolates! Maybe the Swiss know a thing or two about their candies!
