Dad introduced the Kiddos to Ray Stevens this last week. Actually, Sweetie and I often throw around lines from Ray Stevens songs, but the kids never ‘get’ them because they had never heard Ray Stevens. Well, Dad fixed that!
He started them off easy with Guitarzan. All I can see in my head while hearing this song is friends from high school who used the song as a skit. OHMIGOSH! Hilarious!
Then Mississippi Squirrel Revival, Sergeant Preston of the Yukon, The Haircut Song, and one of Dad’s favorites, Erik the Awful.
We got some quizzical looks, but overall, Ray Stevens is a hit with the next generation in our home. I’ve still got mixed feelings about whether this is a good thing or not. At least I can say that Ray Stevens’ music was something my Daddy enjoyed, and it feels right to share it with my kiddos. Weird, but right!
It wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t share at least one of Ray’s songs here. So, I here’s a YouTube of Sweetie’s favorite Ray Stevens song, just the music (no music video), for your listening enjoyment (or at least entertainment).

(yes, that’s really the name of the song!).
