The crab apple tree in my front yard can be very messy, dropping crab apples right left and center, especially in the wind. When our little friends come by to eat the apples, 2 or 3 groups of them every day, I LOVE having the crab apple tree! From now through spring, we’ll have deer coming and going regularly, in our front yard, in town, eating the crab apples. They will even dig under the snow to find them later – nothing more tasty than a freeze-dried crab apple when everything else is dead!

happened to you this week!
That is incredible!!!
It really is incredible, and one of the reasons we bought the house too. When we came to see it for the first time, we thought, “Oh, how cute, they have deer statues in the front yard.” And when we pulled up to the curb, the deer STOOD UP, they were REAL. And as we walked to the front door, they walked away, hardly paying us any mind at all. It was super cool, and they hang out here all the time in the fall and winter. I’ve had as many as 13 in my yard at once! LOL! (My husband is a hunter, too, isn’t that funny!? Wishing he could fill his tags on the front porch!)
we have lots of friendly deer around here too 🙂
Must be a Canada thing! LOL!
Oh, I love these shots. I am sort of jealous. I love seeing deer, just not when I am driving.
hehe, we see them when we’re driving too, but since we’re in the residential area we’re rarely going even 50kph (30mph). Though, on the ‘big road’ across the coulee into town, where the speed limit is higher, quite a few deer get caught there. 🙁 I love seeing them around here. It’s especially fun to watch the little ones grow up right in front of your eyes!
I have to say I love your blog I found it via Triberr and I was happy to join. I love the pictures of the deer. I posted on my Facebook page once that it was Deer Thirty and everyone thought I should have put Beer Thirty but it was Deer Thirty because every night at that same time Deer would come and eat under our pear tree!
Saving Your Green
Yup, I know what you mean. Ours aren’t always at the same time, but we know when it’s deer season because the deer are all inside the city limits all of a sudden the day before season starts! LOL!
By the way, thanks for stopping by! 🙂 I LUV Triberr, too!
Such a pretty site.
aw, thanks! 🙂 Glad you stopped by!
Nothing weird happened this week, but I love that you have deer in your yard. We get them too (we have 3 apple trees, a peach tree, and a plum tree).
Nothing weird? WOW! That’s weird in itself! LOL! I love having deer in my yard, too. It’s great!
So nice Raylene! Do you live in the country? I love seeing nature in it’s real state!
thanks for sharing your WW
Nope, Lynette, I’m right in a residential area, on a cul de sac, ‘in town’. But in Lethbridge, you aren’t ever very far away from the outskirts of town, I guess. LOL! We’re not too far from the plain on the West and the coulees on the East…. so, we get all kinds critters. We can often hear coyotes at night! And about 3am right now, a BIG owl sits in the crab apple tree right outside my bedroom window.
That is awesome! When I was growing up, we had an apple tree in front of our house & deer always came in our yard too. It was so fun to watch!
I could watch them for hours! So fun!
That is so awesome… love the pictures…
Take care.
Lisa
Thanks Lisa! I have SO many pics of deer in my yard, thought I’d try to dress ’em up a bit! LOL!
