I was just tagged by my dear Kiwi friend, Karen, and I thought I’d use this opportunity to share a little bit about me AND completing the meme.  This is the 6 things Meme.

“The Rules for this Meme are:

(1) Link to the person that tagged you.

(2) Post the rules on your blog.

(3) Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.

(4) Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs.

(5) Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.”

I’m very quirky, weird, and random, so I don’t think this should be hard at all!  BUT, I’m not sure I’ll tag anyone…uh-oh, breaking the rules… Well, we’ll see.

1. I’ve been SweetMummy in one capacity or another since I was pregnant with my first child.  The whole “mummy” thing can really throw people off. When my daughter was born, I was in a community of largely Aussies, Kiwis, and Europeans, and a bunch of them were mum instead of mom. We picked it up, and I became Mummy, instead of the North American ‘mommy’.  I was also doing some graphic work and desktop publishing and it was either called SweetMummy Designs or SweetMummy Productions.

2. When I was in elementary school, ours was a new school and we got to pick our mascot by voting for what we thought it should be.  Much to my delight, it was decided that we’d be the Unicorns.  I LOVED unicorns at the time and thought it was so cool!  Now that I look back at that, I think it was kind of a weird mascot for a school.  But we thought it was awesome at the time.

pile of books3. I am not a naturally organized kind of person.  I look around and see things, and know they should belong ‘somewhere’ or that I should find a place for them to belong, and I am usually dumbfounded, without a clue as to where it might should be kept.  But I can find nearly anything I’m looking for.  SO I guess I’m organized in my own way.  No born-organized person would ever agree with me, but that’s just me.

4.  The only ‘accident’ I have ever been involved in while driving a vehicle was hitting a cow.  I was going about 15 miles per hour as I was crossing a cattle guard while driving my 1971 Oldsmobile Delta 88 (read “land yacht”) when this yearling hereford cow runs out right in front of me.  I had no time to stop, but since I wasn’t going very fast I didn’t hit it very hard.  I did knock it over, but stopped before I run it over.  It was winter time, and the cow had thick fur, so when it jumped up to run away I could see the imprint from the front of the Oldsmobile in its fur.  It ran and jumped away, and seemed to have been OK.  There ws certainly no harm done to the Tank I was driving!

5. I love flowers (cut flowers) of all kinds, especially carnations, roses, and stargazer lilies.  While we were dating my sweetie always brought me one or two or a handful of carnations or bouquets of roses and carnations (he could buy a carnation for $0.89 a piece at Safeway…).  For my wedding shower, the family friend who hosted the shower had every guest bring me a flower when they arrived, saying, “Your sweetie asked me to bring this to you.”  I had dozens of flowers.  There were carnations EVERYWHERE that day.  My romantic sweetie didn’t stop bringing me flowers after we got married either.  I have flowers brought to me quite often.  Right now I have 2 dozen pink roses put out in various locations in the house, purchased by my sweetie last Sunday!  Stargazer lilies became a favorite when my Daddy sent me a bouquet with one in it when my daughter was born.  I fell in love with those lilies right away.  And when we moved into our house, the first summer all the flowers that came up in the front flower bed were stargazer lilies.  GORGEOUS!  They smell fantastic, too.

cliff dwelling ruin6. I really enjoy travelling.  When my sister and I were younger, my mom and Granny would load us up in the car and we’d head off to an old-time fiddling contest somewhere in the southwestern United States.  As we travelled, we stopped at as many museums, historic markers, national monuments, national parks, heritage sites, roadside attractions, and special places as we could find.  I think we went to most of the Native American ruins, natural wonders, and national parks in New Mexico, southern Colorado, Eastern Arizona, and west Texas.  I really love that kind of stuff.  My sweetie and I moved to Canada to study after we got married, and have been all the way to east Manitoba and north to the Yukon.  We’ve also been to Indonesia (in 2005).  I love driving and never get tired of being on the road.  I do get motion sick, though, so I always have to make sure I take my medicine or have a bucket along.

So, that’s a few things about me, very random, very quirky, very very ME!

If you haven’t already read my original “about me page” have a look.  It’s also not your typical get to know me kind of page!

NOPE, I’m not tagging this time.  I normally do really good to tag folks and keep things rolling, but it’s Sunday and I’m sleepy, so I’ll pass this time.  I’d love to hear some random things about you all, though, so if you feel like doing this, go for it, and leave a link here.  OR just leave a comment with something random about yourself.  That’s always fun, too!
