Welcome to WEIRD and Wordless Wednesday!
Almost always weird, and sometimes wordless, too.
We recently sold my 1941 Chevy Coupe (it was a sad day but a necessary step we needed to take). When we cleaned it out, we found this 1983 Rebate Check, for $200, made out to my mother, in a foot locker in the trunk of the car. (Incidentally, it was on Mother’s Day that we found it! LOL) I don’t suppose it’s redeemable now, do you?
Wordless Wednesday is meant to be a simple post which features a photo to convey a message that speaks for itself without using words; well not a lot of words!
Please feel free to link your Weird and Wordless (or Word-full) posts below.

I apologize for the weird formatting in my Linky box.
It’s some styling that I’m not sure how to fix.
So, just consider it some BONUS weirdness, k? LOL!
If you like, leave me a comment to tell me
what weird things you’ve seen this week!
Oh wow – that would have been nice!!
Tammi
My Organized Chaos
No kidding! I would have been 7 years old, and my sister 4, so $200 would have been easy to spend, LOL!
wow! that’s crazy!
LOL, my sweetie thought so too when he handed me the check. We both laughed!
I think you are probably past your limit. Shucks!
Yah, unfortunately it says “Void after July 3, 1983”. I think I’m a little late! LOL!
oh my gosh!!!
lol, I know, right? Crazy!
OMG!!! That’s really stale-dated!
REALLY really stale-dated! haha!
Oh wow that’s an awesome find….but a bit of a tease too
I thought it was great, and a bit weird, too. It’s really got me wondering what ELSE is in the footlocker! I haven’t had time to go through it yet. What other treasures might I find!? LOL!
wouldn’t it be nice!
I’m sure $200 would have been nice for a mom with 7- and 4-yr olds at home! I can think of a lot to do with $200!!
Wow! I bet she spend days looking for that!
I know, right? That’s the crazy thing about it. I would have gone nuts losing a $200 Rebate check!!
That is awesome!! I am sure my kids will find piles of checks and other things when they clean out my stuff one day;-)
I hear ya, Ruth! I can only imagine what kinds of important stuff my kiddos will find when they have to sort my things later…. hopefully not TOO important. LOL!
Man, that’s like loosing the money all over again! I think I would rather not have found it!
My mom doesn’t know I found it, so it’s OK, Theresa! LOL! If it was mine, and I found it but couldn’t spend it, I’d be thinking the same thing, “I would rather not have found it at all!”
*sigh!* what a shame!
Yah, no kidding! Imagine what $200 could have bought in 1983!! LOL!
Oops $200 down the drain.
hmmm…. that’s a big oops!
Oh, I couldn’t imagine how she must have felt misplacing that! Hopefully it wasn’t needed badly at the time!
It might make some nice art work now though!
Thanks for the link up!
Becki – I don’t have any solid recollection of that specific time, so I’m not really certain. But $200 with a young family can always be used, I’m sure.
Thanks for stopping by and linking up!
Can’t hurt to try and cash it. Who knows? The novelty of it might help! LOL
I thought about that, Cathi, but it says, “Void after July 3, 1983” and it’s a rebate check that had to be returned to the specific place, so I don’t think I’m even getting a laugh out of them. LOL! I might find out if they are still around and send them a copy, just for fun! 🙂
That’s a bummer–both about selling the car and finding the check after all this time.
Happy WW!
Stacey – you can say that again. It was a heart breaker to have to sell the car.
*I’m not going to cry, I’m not going to cry, I’m not going to cry*
But it really was what we needed to do, and I’m OK with it. I can’t help but wonder what other ‘treasures’ we might find in that footlocker, when I get some spare time to go through it! LOL!
