I have recently taken up exercising with the Wii Fit and not long after I started I found the online group called the Wii Mommies! LOVE that community over there, by the way, and Julie is a hoot!
I heard early-on somewhere that we aren’t supposed to wear shoes while using the Wii Balance board.
Apparently there has also been discussion about how many clothes to wear when doing the Wii Fit weigh-ins as well (my husband agrees with Julie on this one and thinks I should weigh-in nude… which I haven’t done yet since my Wii is right in the middle of the basement downstairs and the time that works for me to exercise is about the time the boys are getting ready for bed down there, and the boys wouldn’t like seeing Mom weigh-in naked…). But I digress.
I had been doing my WiiFit with socks on, and today it’s just so hot that I decided to do it barefooted instead. My feet were clean (mostly) so I thought it would be OK.
I actually think I like it better barefooted. I didn’t notice my socks being slippery before, but I felt a little more sure footed today with no socks on. I didn’t do the body tests (only the weigh-in and then a workout) but I did feel more balanced, or at least more aware of how I was standing and moving.
What do you think? Do you like barefoot, sock foot or shoes on your Balance Board and/or for Wii Fit?
I like to use the balance board without socks. And I so want to weigh myself naked on it! LOL! I just need a day when no one else is around.
Thanks for stopping by.
I really want to weigh in that way, too…. but like you said I'll have to wait for everyone to be gone or something. Not much likely since school is out for the summer now! HA!
And I think I'll stick to no socks and see how I like it! 🙂
I don't have the Wii fit, but I would assume barefoot would be better. I would definately go barefoot, but then again, I hardly EVER wear socks! Flip flops are my staple for the warm weather!
This is my best advice – I also gave it on your post there. (F.Y.I. – We encourage people to post a teaser on our blogging section and then you can bring the readers to your wonderful blog with a "…Read More" and hyperlink to the original blog post)
You can work out on the board however you'd like. If it's a weigh in, I'd go buff because that's how I roll and I don't work out when anyone's around. You can go barefoot but some people complain that the grooves make it uncomfortable or socks if you'd like but most suggest proper footwear like sneakers, because although you can never jump on the board (it hates that), there are various activities that use the board as a workout (take step aerobics, for example) and wearing sneakers might be the best way to go.
