Tammi over at MyChaos invited me to a TeguLive Twitter party the other day.  She had no idea what she was getting started!  My kiddos and I have fallen in serious ‘like’ with Tegu Blocks.

Tegu Blocks

From their website:

Brothers Chris and Will Haughey didn’t start Tegu with toys on their mind. In fact, the company began with the simple notion that Honduras needed businesses which offered living wage jobs. Home to beautiful hardwoods, the country could have been the perfect spot for sustainably manufacturing any number of wooden products. However, the brothers were inspired by classic wooden toys on a trip to Europe and embarked on a quest to breathe new life into a old industry. Today, Tegu blocks inspire children while addressing unemployment, neglected natural and human resources and the need for entrepreneurship in Honduras.

Tegu blocks are beautiful wooden blocks with a twist – they are magnetic!  I have no idea how they make the blocks, but the magnets in them sure make them fun!  Magnets and blocks – excellent combo.

Check out this short video showcasing a bit of what can be done with Tegu blocks:

What Can You Make?

I’ve seen the Tegu Genius make a rescue helicopter, a crocodile, a fairy, a pirate ship, and he even made a Death Star (from Star Wars!) when my kiddos requested it.  The possibilities are almost endless.  Tegu blocks are versatile and set children’s imaginations free to explore!

Tegu has a couple of different sets of blocks, to suit your preferences.

My kiddos range in age from 8 to 11, 2 boys and 1 girl.  Each one of them has been very excited about the blocks.  So I have to decide if I’m getting 1, 2 or 3 sets for Christmas! LOL!

The blocks would be a great gift idea for children of all ages – the parts aren’t too small for young children, and they aren’t too juvenile in design for older children.

I also like that there’s more to these toys (and the Tegu Toys people) than fun and profits.  The Tegu Story says, “Helping the nation of Honduras is a foundational priority of our company; you’ll find this in everything we do…”  I think that’s awesome!  A toy that is sure to be enjoyed by your children (or grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, husbands…) and also makes a positive difference for families in Honduras – that is also a good combination!

I’ll be working with Tegu in the new year to help promote some new products they have coming out.  In the meantime, these sets are available in my It’s OK to be WEIRD! OpenSky Shop.  The sets are flying off the shelves as a popular must-have gift this year.  Get yours today!
