Good Friday and “Black Saturday” are honestly 2 of the hardest days of the year for me.

We call it “Good” Friday, because we know the rest of the story. But what happened on Good Friday was anything but good on that day. Even the sun refused to shine for part of that day.

I’m humbled and heartbroken that Jesus, the very son of God, the unblemished lamb, would willingly submit himself to the agony and torture of the events on Good Friday.

And Saturday must have been a terrible dark day for his followers and family, at least for those who believed that he truly was the Messiah. It would have been confusing, on top of the massive grief they were suffering from their loss, not to mention the horror of watching their beloved Jesus go through beating, ridicule, and ultimately death.

I want to share something in tribute to “Good” Friday, and this is one of the best things I have found.  I have always loved this song, and paired with scenes from Passion of the Christ, it’s even more powerful. This version is less graphic than some of the others that can be found on YouTube, and overall MUCH less graphic than the full version of the Passion. But the story of Christ’s suffering and crucifixion is awful any way you look at it.
