We’re prepping for New Year’s Eve with some different kinds of goodies than we have around Christmas. There were lots of cookies, some pies, even cakes.  We thought we’d go in a different direction and do some bars and Rice Krispie treats!

Rice Krispie Goodies We got a super awesome box of amazingness from Kellogg’s Canada. It included Rice Krispies, Vanilla Flavour Rice Krispies, marshmallows, candy canes, Smarties, sparkle flakes, sparkle gel, cookie cutters, gift bags, ribbon, and gift tags.

I had to keep the Rice Krispies hidden so that no one would just eat them for breakfast (the kiddos all love Rice Krispies) so we could actually have some for treats.

You know what was the most fun about making Rice Krispie treats this time?  My daughter is pretty much able to make the treats all by herself. She took care of the basics – getting the treats mixed up – and then we all helped decorate the treats.

Rice Krispie Box making

My daughter choose to make little Rice Krsipie Treat boxes, sorta like petite fours out of Rice Krispies. LOL!

She made a thin layer of Rice Krispie Treats, according to the recipe, cut small squares out of them, then used the sparkle gel to ‘glue’ two squares together, one on top of the other. Then we used the sparkles and gel, and some of our own decorations, to decorate the top of the boxes.

Here’s a few of our creations:

Rice Krispie Treat Boxes

I’m not sure how many of these will still be here tomorrow night. They are actually really really yummy, and the kiddos always love eating the stuff that they make. The boys like the ones that look the weirdest – some of the weirder ones have already been eaten. LOL!

Rice Krispie Treats are easy to make, easy to get the kiddos to help with, and a safe treat for lots of allergy issues. They will be a welcome treat when we show up at our church New Year’s party tomorrow!

Thank you to Kellogg Canada for sharing a sample of the product with me for review purposes. No other compensation was received for publication in this space. As always, the opinions are my own, based on my personal experience with the product.
