Welcome to Weird Wednesdays, hosted by It’s OK to be WEIRD!
Since I’m still healing from whiplash (a very slow and often frustrating process), I went for a check up with my family doctor this week. She gave me a prescription for a muscle relaxant for my back, hopefully to help me sleep better at least.
I went and got the prescription filled Monday. And that’s when I encountered this week’s weirdness.
This is the front of my prescription bottle:
“TAKE 1 TABLET EVERY MORNING” |
The flash kind of glared on the text, but you can see that it’s VERY large print. I’ve never had any prescriptions printed with such large text. Maybe I looked older that day (I feel older!) so they thought I needed extra large print, or maybe the kind of medication is often given to older people who need the larger print. Anyway, that was weird enough – it is HUGE text.
But then I turned the bottle over:
almost completely unreadably tiny text |
That isn’t just a bad photograph (it isn’t a GREAT photograph either….) – that really is the back side of the pill bottle, with such tiny print that it’s almost unreadable.
What’s up with that?
It’s so bizarre that it made me laugh. Literally HUGE print on one side, and then the warning for the medication on the other side is printed hardly even big enough to read!
Were they having printer issues at the pharmacy? I have no idea! But I think they better check out their labels. Small and Extra Large could both be corrected to Medium, and it would all be readable then!
UPDATE: I forgot to mention how goofy the bottle is in proportion to the pills in it, too.

My prescription was for 30 of these tiny pills… they barely fill the bottom 1/8 of the bottle. Of course, if you have need to print the instructions as largely as they did, then you need the hugely oversized bottle to fit the label on, regardless of how big the pills are…
As it is, the whole thing is just WEIRD!
*** Join me in the weirdness… I KNOW you’ve encountered SOMETHING weird somewhere this week!! Leave me a comment and tell me all about it!! ***
Ok nothing really weird to comment about, wait…does that mean I'm the weird one? Oh well, just felt the need to say,Omgosh that is Huge print on one side, and ridiculously small print on the other! Like you need a magnifying glass to read it small! I have a theory- the big side was clearly meant for giants-small side for wood sprites. They don't really exist I know, but maybe the pharmacy doesn't know that- too much time spent indoors filling prescriptions. Mystery solved…you're welcome. 🙂
Lydia – that cracks me up! Giants and wood sprites! Now why didn't I think of that! LOL! I'm neither giant or wood sprite, so the printing is still not ideal for me, but that's OK! 🙂
What's really weird is that it says to take it every MORNING. Isn't this supposed to help you sleep, make you drowsy etc? Why would they have you take it in the morning? Maybe it's just ME that's weird>LOL!
That's VERY true, Marcia. I actually take it at night, because I don't trust myself with any kind of muscle relaxer during the day – driving, dealing with my kiddos, etc… yah, not going there. So, that the prescription says to take it in the morning is definitely weird too!
