Spring Break planning is underway for many families in North America right now.  March Break, Easter Break, Spring Break – whatever you call it, it’s a time when many like to travel and take a little vacation.

While you are booking your travel arrangements, make sure you also get together a list of emergency information that you might need while you’re away.  Having such a list handy at the time of a crisis can save time, and frustration, and maybe even lives.
Here is some information you might want to include in your Spring Break Travel Emergency list:
Home address and phone number:  where you live – your permanent address.
Local contact: name and telephone numbers (home and cell) of someone in the place you’re visiting, if you have one – perhaps your hotel or the people you are staying/touring with.
Next of kin: name & phone numbers (home and cell) of relative who would be important to contact in an emergency.
Physician: name and phone number of your doctor’s office, and an after-hours number as well, if possible.
Other emergency contacts: names and phone numbers of anyone else that might be contacted in case of emergency – neighbors, pastors, friends.
Health care / insurance numbers: phone number for your insurance companies as well as personal health numbers and insurance policy numbers for each member of your family, including your travel insurance or travel medical insurance information, or if travelling by car (even renting a car) have your car insurance information accessible as well.
Special conditions/allergies and equipment/medication: list all medical conditions (including allergies) and all medications for each family member, especially medications such as inhalers, Epi-pens, insulin, etc., as well as important equipment such as blood glucose monitors, cpap machines and the like.
Passport numbers and embassy/consulate contacts for the countries you will be traveling in: if you are travelling abroad – this information may prove useful, especially if you lose your passport, and knowing where to go during an emergency in a foreign country is very important.
Every family’s emergency travel list will include slightly different information.  You can adjust the list for your particular situation, adding to or taking away from the examples listed here.
Having this important information in a convenient format, and kept in a convenient location with you while you travel, makes it easier to access and share when needed.  Do the prep ahead of time – compile your info into a list like this – so you don’t have to scramble in the event of an emergency while travelling with your family.
