Well, here we are at week 2 of my personal nutrition and fitness challenge, in partnership with my blog sponsors Mission4Nutrition.

Emily and Sarah, the fabulous women behind Mission4Nutrition, are Independent Herbalife Distributors. Many people associate Herbalife with weight-loss products, but Herbalife is MUCH MUCH more.  And as Herbalife Distributors, Emily and Sarah are more than just product salespeople – they are wellness coaches.  They want to help their clients to reach their nutrition and weight-loss goals in a holistic way – with good nutrition as well as healthy lifestyle changes.

The last 2 weeks I have learned a few new things about myself and a lot about the Herbalife Program.

Herbalife Basics

When starting the weight loss portion of the program, my protein requirement was calculated based on my current weight, Body Mass Index (BMI), and basic metabolic rate.  I REALLY appreciated that this important factor was taken into consideration to tailor the program to fit me, where I am right now. Emily didn’t just hand me a canister of their meal replacement Formula 1 shakes and send me merrily on my way.  She built the system around my basic metabolic needs.

Dealing with insulin resistance, I also have to be careful to pay attention to my intake of carbs in ratio to protein.  The Herbalife program is based on providing solid nutrition and adequate amounts of protein.    There is a good balance – we’re not going overboard on protein, and neither are we removing all carbs. It’s a nearly perfect system for me, giving me the right combination of carbs and proteins in the shakes.

Each day I have 2 custom-made meal replacement shakes, 2 great snacks, and a colorful meal.

In the next weeks I’ll be sharing more detail about the shakes, the snacks, the supplements, and of course the results!

OH, speaking of results….

This week I lost another pound!  Down 3.5 lbs from my start 2 weeks ago!

This is how I envisioned things going – losing a pound or two a week.  This seems like a sustainable rate I can keep going, and I’m excited!

Mission4Nutrition have a Mission4Nutrition Fan Page on Facebook, as well as their Mission4Nutrition blog.  Please come and support Emily and Sarah with a LIKE and a comment.  They really are awesome, and I’m SO enjoying working with them!
