This time the allergy test was for me…. usually we have to get these tests done for my daughter!
New place means new allergies!

Our new family doctor had a RAST test done to check for allergies.  It’s a blood test that looks for the antibodies that ones body would create in defense of allergens.

Thankfully, no food allergies came up on the test.  YAY!

But I had large numbers for grass!  I’m very allergic to grass.

The ladies at bible study yesterday told me that if I would just stop smoking that stuff that I would have no problems anymore.  What a bunch of jokers!  (I did move here from BC, the marijuana capital of North America, but give me a break!)  No, I don’t smoke grass, weed, or any thing else!!

prairie grassesI’m in the prairies now… there is GRASS everywhere!  All kinds of grasses everywhere!  <sigh>  At least this allergy is very common around here and docs know what to do with it!

So, I should only have to deal with this allergy when the grass is coming out or when we or our neighbors or someone on the block or wherever I am going to be is mowing grass… I need to stay on allergy medication from May through July (probably more like April thorugh August…) and a nose spray, too.
It’s not as bad as I was expecting.  I thought I was allergic to tomatoes and that would be a real bummer.  Had some tomatoes yesterday and no issues there!  YAY!

achooI can handle having to take Aerius once a day and using the nose spray at night before bed.  If it takes care of the headaches and funny feelings I have been having when I go out for hikes and walks, I’ll be very excited!

We’ll also be putting gravel down in part of our yard to cut down on the grass (and the water bill to water the grass).

I’m glad to have some answers!  I am on another round of antibiotics for sinus infection.  For me allergy problems = sinus infection almost always.  But hopefully I can get that all under control and not have any more issues with it.  I know when I have infection of any kind (bladder, sinus, etc.) that, with my insulin resistance, my blood sugar goes wacky, and it had been quite a roller coaster the last few weeks.

Things are definitely better now, and I’m SO thankful!!!
