According to the 2006 Stats Canada Census:

“One in 10 Canadian children live in poverty and are at risk of going to school on an empty stomach.”

MANY studies show that breakfast can help kids boost their academic performance – improving behaviour, reducing absences and tardiness, and increasing focus and physical performance. Too many kiddos don’t have any choice about whether or not they get breakfast – there simply isn’t any breakfast to be had. It’s a real shame, too, in a wealthy country like Canada.

Kellogg's National Breakfast DayMarch 8, 2012 is National Breakfast Day in Canada, and Kellogg’s* will be taking breakfast to those who need it most. They’ll be sharing Rice Krispies* cereal, providing breakfasts for hungry Canadian children on the sidewalks of Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. Kellogg’s also hopes to enlighten people by sharing facts about childhood hunger in Canada while sharing delicious bowls of Kellogg’s* cereal.

In addition, Kellogg’s is donating to their National Breakfast Day charity partners, Breakfast Clubs of Canada, and Breakfast for Learning.

If you’d like to help, there are a number of easy ways to get involved:
